October 10-11, 2017 - The Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards (BAFS) conducted a National Public Consultative Meeting for the Development of Philippine National Standards (PNS) for Various Agricultural Machinery at University Hotel, University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City. This activity aimed to gather comments from relevant stakeholders that are essential in the finalization of the draft Standards. It covered the discussion of draft PNS for Cassava Mechanical Dryer, Cassava Digger, Corn Combine Harvester, and Mungbean Sheller.


The national consultation was attended by experts from Department of Agriculture- Regional Field Offices, cassava, corn and mungbean farmers, processors, agricultural machinery manufacturers and distributors, and other relevant stakeholders from Region I- XIII. The Technical Staff from the Agricultural and Fisheries Mechanization Section of the Standards Development Division (SDD) of the Bureau facilitated the said activity while Dr. Arthur Fajardo of Agricultural Machinery Division of University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), Dr. Manolito Bulaong of Agricultural Machinery and Construction Corporation (AMCC), Dr. Michael Gragasin and Mr. Donald Mateo of Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PHilMech), Mr. Gerry Mag-isa of Philippine Tapioca Producers and Processors Inc. (PhilTaPP), Engr. Darwin Aranguren of Agricultural Machinery Testing and Evaluation Center (AMTEC), Engr. Daniel Leslie Tan of Visayas State University (VSU), Engr. Dennis Tactac and Engr. Triniza Millare of DA- Regional Agricultural Engineering Divisions, and Dr. Joel Alcaraz of Isabela State University acted as resource persons during the discussions of the draft Standards. All the comments gathered during the said activity will be consolidated and presented on the final TWG meetings for each Standard.
