The Department Circular No. 01, Series of 2018 (D.C. No. 01, S. 2018) otherwise known as the Revised Guidelines for the Official Accreditation of Organic Certifying Bodies has
been approved and consequently published in a newspaper of general circulation last March 1, 2018 (Thursday). Starting March 17, 2018 (Saturday) the said Circular is now
effective and will be the basis for all organic certifying bodies seeking official accreditation with BAFS.
The D.C. No. 01, S. 2018 cancels the D.C. No. 06, S. 2015 (Revised Guidelines for Official Accreditation of Organic Certifying Bodies) incorporating the following major changes:
- exclusion of ISO/IEC 17065 from the list of mandatory requirements for official accreditation;
- Inclusion of organic certification scheme for standardized certification protocols among OCBs; and
- Improving the mechanism for decisions relative to official accreditation (e.g. suspension, handling appeals and complaints, etc).
