In August 2018 a fisher folk group claimed that one of the sources of imported galunggong imports uses formalin to preserve fish harvests. the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) assured the public that all fish commodities available in the markets are safe and free from any harmful substances.
QUEZON CITY – The Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards (BAFS) conducted a Microbiological Risk Assessment Seminar for the members of the DA Pool of Experts (DAPE) on September 17 – 20, 2019 at Icon Hotel, North EDSA, Quezon City.
The seminar was also attended by representatives from Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI), Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI), Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), National Food Authority (NFA), Food Development Center (FDC), Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA), Sugar Regulatory Authority (SRA) and BAFS. The seminar is part of a seminar series that aims to capacitate the members of the DAPE in accessing and evaluating technical data on microorganisms in food, including interpreting published risk assessments studies
The Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards (BAFS) is calling for interested individual researchers who will be responsible for the conduct of efficacy trials, a prerequisite for OBCA registration of BAFS.
Interested applicant shall meet the following requirements:
a. Has at least MS/ MA Degree in Agriculture with specialization in Plant Pathology, Entomology, Crop Protection, Weed Science and other related discipline; and
b. Has at least five (5) years experience in conducting technical research related to crop protection/pest management.
The Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards (BAFS) conducted a Stakeholders Consultation for the draft Philippine National Standard (PNS) for Coffee Pulper on May 21, 2019 to gather technical and commercial data on the coffee pulping practices in the Philippines. The activity was held at the Oscar Hall of the Icon Hotel North Edsa in Quezon City. The 1st working draft PNS for Coffee Pulper – Specifications and Coffee Pulper – Methods of Test were presented.
