Training of APTC Personnel on Safe Food Handling and on Grading and Classification is a collaborative project of ATI- HVCDP – AMAS – BAFS. This training aims to enhance understanding of APTC personnel on the relationship of food handling with food safety, and increase their capacity in carrying out their assigned tasks. It also intends to increase the capability of APTC personnel and selected members of farmer-groups in grading and classifying fruits and vegetables according to the provisions of the adopted Philippine National Standards (PNS).

Guided by the objective of developing a guideline document on Principles and Guidelines on Good Regulatory Practices, a training-workshop on Good Regulatory Practice (GRP) led by the DTI-National Competitiveness Council (DTI-NCC) was held last 15-17 August 2016 at Century Hotel, Angeles City, Pampanga. The training-workshop was participated by the Technical Working Group (TWG) members from various DA Regulatory Agencies which was created to establish the Principles and Guidelines on Good Regulatory Practice.

Through the initiative of the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office I (DA-RFO I) Halal Regional Technical Working Group (RTWG), in collaboration with the Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards (BAFS), a Consultation/Briefing Meeting Re: Philippine Halal Promotion Act of 2016 (RA 10817) was conducted on 26 July 2016 at the DA-RFO I Conference Room, San Fernando, La Union.  The event was attended by the DA-RFO I Halal RTWG.

The Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards of the Department of Agriculture conducted a consultation with stakeholders from various research institutions, private organizations and DA Regulatory Agencies within the Visayas region. The Consultation was held last 4 August 2016 at the Diamond Suites and Residences, Cebu City. Aside from gathering comments and recommendations, the consultation seeks to introduce the project and gain interest from the probable applicants of the DA Pool of Experts. Once established, the DA Pool of Experts shall support the development of standards and technical regulations through the issuance of scientific or technical recommendations.
